Amway States Direct Sales Market Is Strong in Thailand

The Bangkok Post released an article yesterday regarding Amway and the situation of the direct selling industry in Thailand. The newspaper states that according to Amway the direct sales industry in Thailand has room to grow since the joining rate is below numbers of many other Asian countries.

On average every 17th Thai joins a direct sales business at some stage in their life’s. Compared to one in six in Taiwan and one in 11 in South Korea this is still minor.

With the introduction of new companies and products there is certainly room for growth. Amway hopes to double its sales over the next 5 years to 20 million baht which they partially credit to high entrepreneurial spirit of the Thai people.

Amway’s marketing director issued a statement about the company’s intention to increase their customer focus, performance and innovation to achieve this. They are also budgeting 100 million baht for advertising purposes in 2008.

Plus the opening of 3 new shops is on the plans too. After last month’s Amway news stunt in the UK it seems that the company is keen to repair their tainted name as far away as Asia.
