Avon Walk For Breast Cancer

January 15, 2009 | By Monika Mundell |

The Avon Walk for Breast Cancer will set to turn heads this year when individuals can walk a 39 mile course to raise funds for this crippling disease. Events are held all around the US in 2009 with the following cities participating:

  • Houston April 4th and 5th
  • Washington D.C. May 2nd and 3rd
  • Boston May 16th and 17th
  • Chicago June 6th and 7th
  • Rocky Mountains June 27th and 28th
  • San Francisco July 11th and 12th
  • Los Angeles September 12th and 13th
  • New York October 10th and 11th
  • Charlotte October 24th and 25th

Everyone is encouraged to register for the walks and participate to help raise awareness for breast cancer. Thousands of women worldwide are victims of this illness every year and the more people know about it, the more lives can be saved in the process.

image Minimum age for participants is 16 due to insurance regulations. The idea is to walk the whole distance of 1.5 marathons in the two day events. However, if you feel not up to walking the whole length of the distance, then do as much as you possibly can.

Wellness villages will be setup to accommodate participants in the night with showers, food, tents, sinks and medical services. Everyone is required to bring their own sleeping bag.
