Building an Effective MLM Blog – Part 2
August 15, 2007 | By admin | No Comments »
Build an effective MLM blog, and it will almost certainly guarantee long term success in MLM. Fine, but how do you do it, right?
In Building an Effective MLM Blog Part 1 I talked about the frame of mind you need to be in before you begin. You may want to read that post first before you continue.
In this post, let look at how to build your greatest MLM asset – YOU.
Because YOU are the business, not your MLM opportunity or products, however good they may be. You company may tell you that you’re the owner of a real business, but if that were true you should be able to take your entire downline elsewhere if the supplier (MLM company) screws up.
So it’s all about YOU – and what better way to start your MLM blog that to write an “About Me” page. That’s right, tell the world who you are. You must include all these things in your About Me page:
- Your real name and occupation – it doesn’t matter if you’ve never made money in MLM before, but surely you’ve been in a job? Tell them how long you’ve been working at your job, and the level of success you’ve had with it. Yes you may hate your job now, but nothing speaks of your charisma as a leader as the positions you’ve had in your previous job, which almost everyone can associate with.
- Your picture – A solo picture or one with your family. Personally I think it’s better to post a picture from your last vacation instead using a studio photograph with neckties, power suites and what not.
- Your location (city or state) – it helps readers identify with you and may lend you hot prospects within your area code. A LOT of people prefer to meet-up or do business with someone closer to them geographically.
- Your reason for starting a network marketing business – Tell them what you like about your job, but why you realize a job is just not enough for your goals. Tell them YOUR reasons, not the ones you’ve thought in your MLM meetings – it must come from your heart or people will know it’s fake. Make it as detailed as possible without getting boring.
- Your goal in your business – Not everyone wants to become a millionaire, so don’t think that the ultimate goal in your MLM business is to live in a 3000sf mansion. Sometimes, people just want to earn more to send their children to college or to buy a better home. Make your goals specific but not just all numbers.
- The benefit of subscribing to your blog – You must tell people what they stand to gain by visiting your blog again instead of just a one-night stand.
Here’s an example.
Thank you for visiting my blog! My name is Jane Smith and I live in San Francisco, CA with my husband and 3 daughter. I’m a pre-school teacher with 10 years experience in working with kids, and I absolutely love each and every one of them! In fact, I’ve even organized the first inter-state pre-school sports competition in Redwood City a couple of years back.
While I love my job, it was only a matter of time before I realized it wasn’t going to be enough to cover the needs of my growing family. Besides, I’ve always wanted to start my own business but shied away cos I had no formal business knowledge. I always thought I’ll be a lousy business person, until I came across Company XXX.
Now I’m a part-time entrepreneur, but in 3 years I plan to go full time with this opportunity. In fact, I plan to send my daughters Amy and Jessica to college from my new source of income, and after 5 years I plan to start my own pre-school center. That way I can still see those lovely faces but this time around I’ll be the boss!
This blog is a little about my life, and a little about my journey in Company XXX. Here’s where I detail out each step of my entrepreneurial career. When I first started this blog I was making $20 a month in Company XXX, but as of July 2007 I’m making a cool $1,500 every month. By 2010 I expect to make about $12,000 monthly.
How did I do it? Well it’s a long story and I doubt you can get everything from just one visit. So just click here for instructions on how to subscribe to my blog, and as time goes by you’ll be able to read my latest achievements and even participate and give me your opinions.
That you again for visiting my blog. See ya tomorrow!
Well, it’s not one of the best About Me pages you’ll see, but you can always improve it from time to time. The important point is to have one!
A lot of people get it wrong when they start a blog to grow their MLM business. They start posting pictures of their company’s products, a detailed explanation of their compensation plan and so on. But these things should be reserved for one-on-one meetings or follow-ups once the reader has already decided to buy the main product – YOU!
Don’t you dare write a single post on your blog before you’ve carefully composed your “About Me” page.
