Global Domains International History
Global Domains International (GDI) is headquartered in Carlsbad, California and has been in business since 2000. Prior to the launch of their .ws domain registration service they spent years researching and putting all of the pieces of the puzzle in place to make GDI a success.
In the mid 1990’s owners Michael Reed and Alan Ezeir had an idea to open up a whole new level of domain extensions. Realizing that each country is assigned a top level domain extension, ie: Australia is .au, they locked themselves in a room and pondered which country’s top level domain would be best for their project. As it turns out, the tiny island nation of Samoa had the extension of .ws. This seemed the logical and perfect choice since .ws could certainly mean Web Site!
They ultimately flew to Samoa to meet the Prime Minister and pitch their proposal. The leader of the Samoan government agreed that this was a fine idea and Global Domains International was on its way to being a reality. As compensation for use of the .ws extension, the Samoan government receives a percentage of all the domains registered. According to Mike and Alan, Samoa is very pleased with their partnership.
Michael and Alan worked diligently to start making the .ws concept a reality. When asked about the future of GDI, Mike said, “It’s all about taking a risk and believing in a concept enough to drop everything and make it a reality.” Alan concurs. “We are extremely excited about what the next few years have in store for everyone who joins us as we make .WS the global standard for Internet addresses.”

Global Domains International Products
The products offered by GDI include the services of domain registration. This is really the premiere offering of GDI. Domains that are easily taken with a .com registration are most likely available with a .ws extension, allowing far greater choices for folks wanting a secure and recognizable domain for their business or personal web site. The .ws extension is globally recognized and works exactly the same as any other extension available.
Of course it would just make sense that they also offer a robust hosting service, instant domain registration, email and web site authoring tools.
Global Domains International Marketing Plan
The GDI marketing plan is firmly based on a MLM affiliate program. Customers can create a .ws domain of their choosing and then let GDI host the site or the hosting can be done by another hosting service of the customer’s choosing. Most folks choose to become an affiliate and use their .ws site to build a MLM business.
In this standard MLM plan, an affiliate pays $10.00 for the monthly hosting of their site. They earn $1 per month for each of the down line members in their team. The down line can reach as deep as 5 levels and has unlimited width. All it really takes is one or two motivated folks in an affiliate’s down line to really start moving things along.
In addition to features that help an affiliate to build a website, there are 10 active email addresses available for each affiliate. The support tools also contribute to the success of each affiliate. There are introductory DVDs to hand out to potential team members, custom business cards are available and there are a variety of banners in Flash and Animated .gif that an affiliate can place on appropriate web sites.
Access is made easy to both up line and down line contacts through the affiliate’s own home page and there are a variety of communication lines available for use.
GDI maintains a very strict no spam policy and very clearly outlines ways for affiliates to avoid getting into spam trouble.
