The biggest ever network marketing event of its kind it set to unfold in Singapore this month. 18,000 happy, mad and crazy Herbalife distributors are unleashed onto Singapore’s Expo and city. The excitement of the imminent event has been building with Herbalife distributors for months. Everybody has scrambled to be part of this event. Sales have been made, distributors have been sponsored and new “blood” has been primed to attend.

The Singaporean tourism board launched a BE (business event) scheme last year in August 2006. Herbalife is one of the first companies to qualify for this scheme. This scheme was created to help exposure of the city to the world for conventions. Because of the ease of transport, range of hotel accommodations and the size of the Singapore Expo the city is the perfect destination for big corporate events such as this one.

Naturally the event planning has to be meticulous and I know from personal experience that attending events such as this one are always exciting from the distributors view point. The company has to make sure that all things fall into place.

A distributor is responsible for their own travel costs to these events; they have to pay for their flights, hotel, food, event entry and whatever else they wish to purchase on the trip. Because it is a business trip there a many ways a distributor can claim these expenses on tax. Because of the “hype” it is relatively easy for distributors to get swept up in the excitement to attend. Only to find that once they get back home they hit rock bottom, financially and mentally.

They start to think thoughts such as:” Where is all the excitement gone?”” How come people don’t buy from me?”” Didn’t they say it was easy to build the business at the event?” Before they know it, they are in a bottomless pit of self destructive depression and their business comes to a full grind. Unfortunately those scenarios happen to many distributors coming back from a big event. My advice is to be aware of the costs involved and whether you can afford them before you commit to attending any huge company event. The world will still turn even if you miss out on a particular event and your business will still grow, as long as you work it.

Herbalife expects to pay around $2.8 million for the event. This is huge and I know that they will deliver as always when it comes to putting up incredible speakers and entertainers.

Hosting the event in Singapore is double exciting this year, as Herbalife has recently appointed a new general manager of Herbalife Indonesian operations. Agung Karso Sardjono has 17 years of experience in the direct selling industry, such as with Avon Indonesia which he helped to build up to what they are today. Further he has worked with the network marketing company NuSkin Indonesia. Hosting such a massive event shortly into a new business appointment is certainly no easy feat. So Agung Karso Sardjono will have his work cut out right from the start.

If you are in Singapore during those few days and come across people dressed in green/white, wearing all kinds of buttons and acting rather crazy, you’ll know you hit on some Herbalife distributors.
