MLM Is Not An Investment Program

March 8, 2007 | By admin | 1 Comment »

I met up with a friend few days back, he’s background is in accounting. He is now an MLMer and in his 1st month’s (February this year)bonus check that he showed me, was a whopping over RM18,000 (about USD5000).

That was impressive as he was 1st timer in MLM. I asked him how he did it. Being an accountant and Unit Trust Agent, he approached his accounting friends and Unit Trust clients, about 10 plus of them, pitching them about his MLM deal as a better investment.

At the time, I thought, “Wow what a smart way to put it. After all it is a business investment.”

Here’s the thing now, I just learnt from an MLM  leader regarding this way of presenting the business to prospects. The lesson I got from him is… It is wrong to portray MLM like an investment program as it is not.

Because if it was an investment program, after you bought the business opportunity, you just sit and do nothing and make money. But this does not happen in MLM. The name is business opportunity – the word is business, must be busy doing work (at least initially untill your organization grows by itself via duplication).

Note: If you are reading this my friend, don’t use it ever again.

I fully agree with article.

I am a CPA from the Philippines and just started a couple of months. As I see it, this is the most ethical profession there is – if done right – the values-based approach.

The internet has been a gold mine for me in my networking business – particularly on how to do it properly. It has taught me a lot in the transition process.
