“How do you show posture and leadership when you are new to the business and haven’t recruited anyone yet?” Asked Carl.
Answer: Carl, your question brings up the classic question “what came first - the chicken or the egg?”The problem you face is the fact that you aren’t a good liar. Now we say this as a compliment and here’s what we mean by saying that so stay with us here.
You see, the problem you have is with your lack of success (currently) and the fact that you don’t want to lie to others when they ask you “how successful you are”.
Now this is a good thing. You don’t want to build your business based on lies — it’s the worst thing anyone could ever do as eventually whatever “success” you create will come crashing down all around you.
So what should you do if you don’t have any success right now and aren’t willing to lie about it?
Our philosophy from the start has always been to lead with your product or service. We often tell new FirePower students to forget about the recruiting side of their business (for the time being, we’ll talk about recruiting in a minute). Instead, we recommend focusing on retailing and selling the product or service and learn what it takes to do so successfully.
By selling your product or service you will do a couple of things for you and your business:
(1) This experience in the “trenches” will be invaluable to you because you will learn exactly what is it about your product/service that attracts people to try it and keep it.
(2) This experience will allow you to expertly coach, train and guide your recruits to be successful.
(3) By having customers (like a real business does), you will start enjoying some profits and revenues that you can then reinvest right back into your business to fuel even more growth and profits.
(4) Your self-esteem, confidence and your belief in your success and in your business will start to skyrocket which will aid you in your recruiting efforts.
(5) Even though it will be slow in the begining, as you become more and more successful, you will magnetically attract others to you and your business and you’ll find it easy to recruit because of your success with the product or service.
It is much easier to show posture and leadership when you’ve actually done (and are doing) what you are talking about doing.
But what about recruiting others and building a large downline to make that six and seven figure income?
Over the years, we’ve noticed a trend that if you have a long-term success mentality and really take ownership of your business will serve you very well and be extremely profitable to you.
Here’s what the trend is… We’ve noticed that many of the most successful reps started out as product users first. In fact, they were extremely satisfied customers who then made the decision that starting a home based business would be a good idea.
Now logically, the best place to start is with what you are familiar with. And if you do your job properly, you can easily turn your customers into reps. You just have to take the time to remind your customers (on a regular basis) that they can make money by sharing and selling the products/services with others who would benefit.
We call it “Retailling to Recuit”.
If you’ll do that then you stand to enjoy a much greater chance that your customers will take the next step and join you in business.
Here are some of the many benefits to following this method to recruiting:
(A) Your customers LOVE the products/service.
(B) They have a testimonial and can easily talk about the products. Which saves you a tremendous amount of time having to train them on the benefits of the product.
(C) Because you started them as a customer, they fundamentally understand that
(1) it’s a business so there’s an ongoing investment required.
(2) It takes time to build, so they won’t quit after 2 weeks of doing nothing and wondering why they haven’t made a million dollars yet.
(D) They’ll usually stick with you for life because of the products benefits and won’t be distracted by the latest “shiny biz opp” that flies by.
(E) And you’ll enjoy profits from your customers which will assist you in growing your business even faster.
