Oriflame To Grow In India

May 15, 2008 | By Monika Mundell | 1 Comment »

Indian middle class buyers are set to double Oriflame’s sales within the nest five years said Alexander af Jochnick, the company’s principal shareholder and a member of the af Jochnick family who founded Oriflame back in 1967.

While the company isn’t interested in opening retail stores and move into the 21st Century, they are certain to boost their already 100,000 strong sales force in India and double this over the next few years.

By his own admission Alexander af Jochnick said that while only 10% of the Indian marketplace could afford the company’s products with some 100 custom designed products especially made for India.

Upon the question of what sets Oriflame apart from other MLM companies like Amway, Mr. Jochnick replied with:

“We are both direct marketing companies. Oriflame is customer focused. We do not compare ourselves with anyone. We offer a strong opportunity and say that nobody can lose money with us. Ours is also a multilevel compensation plan like Amway’s and there is a money-back feature in place”.

The thing that bothers me in that statement is how on earth can they KNOW that nobody can lose money with them?

To me statements such as these ask for trouble in the long term. Even if they have a money back guarantee like they claim they do, how about the money lost for unnecessary advertising, home party plan expenses and what not. Do they refund this as well after they told you how important it was to “invest” into your business?

Just wondering.
