Quixtar Sues 30 People over Web Remarks
October 15, 2007 | By Monika Mundell | 2 Comments »
Quixtar a direct marketing company and sister company of Amway has filed a lawsuit against 30 people who have made disparaging remarks on various blogs, forums and videos across the Internet.
Quixtar believes the various postings and videos to be from a former group of distributors who are under court order not to disclose any company information due to an unsuccessful court order taken out against Alticor on their behalf.
The posters having been identified as John Does will be tracked down via various means by Quixtar. Seeking an injunction and damages to $25,000 the company is set out to counteract what has been done wrong according to them.
MLM companies often stipulate regulations on disclosure policies to distributors. So while telling the truth is good and helps many unsuspecting individuals, any former distributor has to be careful not to overstep those invisible boundaries. While raving and ranting is often relevant to a persons experience within the industry, naming companies should be carefully avoided if possible.
According to Alticor, (a $6.3 billion company based in Ada, Mich.), it will start phasing out the Quixtar name and rebuilding its Amway brand in the U.S. and Canada.
Excerpt of Quixtar & the Opportunity
The Quixtar business opportunity offers entrepreneurs the ability to have a web-based business of their own. Embraced by hundreds of thousands of Independent Business Owners (IBOs) and often copied but never duplicated, the opportunity is like no other.
If you’ve seen the Land of Will and Won’t Becomes Will ads, you know the opportunity is about hope, freedom, family, and reward. It’s about possibilities, dreams, and seeing the glass as half full.
Quixtar’s proven Independent Business Owner Compensation Plan enables IBOs to earn income on business volume resulting from their efforts.
The business is truly performance-based, rewarding IBOs more than $370.1 million in bonuses and incentives in fiscal 2006, and more than $2.2 billion since 1999.
