Stop Chasing The Wrong Dreams!

May 28, 2008 | By Monika Mundell | No Comments »

Are you a dream chaser? I’m sure you are. Most of us do and I couldn’t in the world understand somebody who hasn’t got dreams or aspirations. Humans need dreams to fuel their passions, to give them hope and something to strive for. Without them we would be a dead, lifeless society indeed.

Chasing dreams is great, if you do it actively. But what do I mean by this? Active means you do something to get closer to your dreams. Action. Pro-active action in fact.

While action is great, it could be fatal if we chase the wrong dreams though. The thing here is that it is hard to chase the wrong dream if we are not aware of it. So how can we know?

Ask yourself the following questions:

  • is what I do making me feel glowing and positive
  • do I fear taking the action steps necessary to get closer to my intended goal?
  • am I passionate enough about my dreams (meaning I dream them, I think about them, I talk about them all the time).
  • am I stuck feeling I can’t move forward
  • do other ideas/dreams make me more excited than my own

If you have answered yes to any of these questions it might be time to look deeper as you could be following the wrong dream.

When we struggle through our day, not really knowing what is wrong with us, it could be the first indication that not all is well. The sooner we look into ourselves objectively and with honest intentions, the less likely we are to waste unnecessary time.

Put it this way. What if you follow the wrong dream just because you are afraid to start again? You know what will happen. You won’t succeed.

Cruel. Perhaps. True. I bet.

Imagine instead you stop what you are doing right now and reconsider your future with your heart wide open. Follow your guts instead and do what you REALLY want to do. It might put you on the long road temporarily, but in the end you will still win.
