The Essence Of Tracking Your Traffic

July 17, 2008 | By Monika Mundell | No Comments »

Tracking your traffic is an absolute essence of any online business. This is no different with mlm target="_blank" rel="nofollow" href="http://gobala.linktrackr.com/buildingonabudget-mlmrkeywords">mlm or network marketing. Often, you spend a lot of money for leads so it does make sense to know whether those advertising dollars are well spent.

Even if you choose to run your business without throwing money at the various lead management systems, you need to know what works and what doesn’t. The more you understand which methods bring you new team members and customers, the easier it will become for you to run your business.

Tracking tools are therefore indispensable for you. The good news is that many are free to use. The hardest bit will be to make a decision on which one you’d like to use. In the end, it doesn’t really matter, you can use whatever feels right for you, but here are some to get you started. These tools are all fantastic and I have tested each and every one of them.

Google Analytics

Google Analytics gives you detailed information on who visited your site, where they came from and how long they stayed. It is perhaps the most complicated tracking system to understand of the four listed here, but in the end it is very powerful and best of all it is free to use if you have a Google account. You can sign up here.

Statcounter

Statcounter is one of my favorites. It offers cool keyword analytics and allows you to build link clusters to your site. It also shows visitors, referral traffic and exit pages.

Woopra

Woopra is a relative newcomer and so far the best I have seen from any traffic tracking tool online. Their interface is simply the bees knees. I can imagine you will be hooked if give them a real try. The software is free to use but a little complicated to install, especially for newbies.

If you persist though it will be worth your while.

Don’t fall for the "trial" approach

One thing I’ve noticed even with myself is to fall for the trial. You know, when you see a new tool and you think "this looks cool". So we download it, install it and use it for a week, only to forget all about it before the month is over.

Any traffic stat evaluating tool needs to be used in order to function.

My suggestions are if you found one that suits your needs, make it a regular habit to login once a week and analyze your stats. Then use them to improve your performance.
