The Return of Amway in the United States

June 1, 2007 | By admin |

For those of you who are in Asia, Quixtar is Amway and Amway is Quixtar. The company name may be different but the products, the leadership including the management are exactly the same.

In 1999 the founders of the Amway corporation launched a sister (and separate) Internet-based company named Quixtar. The Alticor corporation owns both Amway and Quixtar, plus several other concerns. Quixtar replaced the North American business of Amway in 2001, with Amway operating in the rest of the world. Amway’s internet sales in Europe are conducted via their Amivo website. The Access Business Group was split off to handle manufacturing.

Quixtar replaced Amway in the U.S, Canada and the Caribbean. However, there are speculations that Amway will return to these regions while Alticor (the holding company for Amway and Quixtar) will sell Quixtar to a group of IBO leaders.

Sometimes, I feel that there are many MLM companies out there who tend to disguise their lack of business stability with company restructuring. Problems with the government, management changes or even attacks from the FTC or direct selling bodies can cause networks to split almost overnight.

Stay tuned to see what Amway will come up with next.

I’ve been an an active and now in-active Amway/Quixtar IBO for almost 19 years and have experienced some of the previous “stuff”. This is beyond “stuff”. Are the founding families nuts? How do they expect anyone to build a business if they re-adopt the “Amway” name. When Quixtar was formed, it was great for those of us who were building the business because, although we were honest about the relationship between Quixtar and Amway if asked, the fact that it had gone to a web based business was more appealing to prospects and more often than not we didn’t have to deal with the “Amway, scamway” attitude.

The current situation does nothing for the business’ credibility and I know that there will be thousands of us who will be thinking long and hard about renewing. Such a pity.

Hi Sue,

I agree with you completely.

Whenever an MLM company goes through changes especially when it has something to do with the management, you can be sure than thousands of IBOs in America will be affected.

Amway is one of the most respected companies in the U.S. But even the granddaddy of all MLM companies have capitulated to the pressures of the government and various other factors that leads to strange, pragmatic decisions like this.

You can’t use a smoke screen forever, that is why ex-leaders like John Crowe, Larry Winters and Bo Short and many others have left Amway/Quixtar for greener pastures.

Make no mistake about it - whatever decisions Amway/Quixtar is making, the King may thrive while the peasants suffer, but it won’t be long before they realize they will have no one left to lead…

John Crowe hasn’t left Amway or Quixtar, just BWW.

Khai,

Larry Winters is still 100% active and still breaking emeralds and diamonds. He also still promotes Quixtar and several of his downline diamonds serve on the IBOAI board.

Hi Bobby,

My apologies.

Winters team hasn’t left Quixtar - according to MLMblog, they merely claim that Winters left BWW, not Quixtar.

Hi John,

Try to look it up in the white pages if you have them over there. Otherwise you can call head office of Amway and ask for a representative in Tulsa.
