What Is Right From Wrong?

With all the current spam and fraud alerts going on in the online MLM world, I beg to answer what is right from wrong? Are you involved in a shady MLM, just to hope to make a dime or two in the process? Are your ideas on doing business not related to being honest and working with integrity without scamming others in the process, or are you dead set on feeding your honesty, even if this means you’ll go out of business because you can’t be brought to lie to your customers/distributors?

I think this is food for thought as in essence it is the difference between running a business with integrity or doing it to make a fast buck.

My answer is clear. I guess I did fail in MLM because my honesty and integrity is untouchable. Even if this means I didn’t do the right thing by the company’s standards. If they want me to call people at home and pester them with never ending sales calls I don’t have to do it if it doesn’t feel right.

The same applies to follow up. How many MLM companies (especially in the health and wellness related industry) as their distributors to keep calling their customers to "follow up".

Is this right or wrong?

What do you think? Are you comfortable calling people to ask them how they went with your product, or do you rather just leave it? If so, why?

We all have our reasons on why we act and behave in a certain way and in the end it comes down to two things.

I appreciate this post because I think this is where so many network marketers find themselves when at the crossroads of whether to continue in the business.

First of all, assuming that it is a reputable company with outstanding products (as it should be if you are investing your life into it) then sales is merely “perception.”

Is it wrong to follow-up or to NOT to follow-up? Personally, I think it depends on why you are following up. If your mission is to merely sell more products – than obviously it will be uncomfortable and feel wrong. But if you truly want to make sure they are happy with their purchase and see if you can answer any questions for them – this is called “exceptional customer service.”

If you truly believe in your product – then you must ask yourself this… “Wouldn’t it wrong NOT tell others who could benefit from it?”

Sometimes the glass is half empty – sometimes the glass is half full.

Don’t let negative thinking sabotage your business if you truly love the company, the products and the customers who purchase them!

Hi Monika,
I have been in MLM and network marketing for many years and actually have left a few companies due to their ethics. Not all MLM’s are shady, however I do know many are and many reps with the companies are as well.

I truly believe we have been so successful with our mlm target="_blank" rel="nofollow" href="http://gobala.linktrackr.com/buildingonabudget-mlmrkeywords">mlm business because our business was based on truth. I have always answers questions truthfully and never tried to be shady just to make a quick sale.

I too, am like you and do not pester people at all. Everyone knows how to contact me and if they need help or have questions, they are more than welcome to contact me.

Now, with that being said, in one of my businesses I do follow up via email to anyone who orders online. Just saying I am their rep, I hope they enjoy their products and let them know it is ok to contact me.

Since both of our MLM businesses have been based on the internet, I hate to call people and bug them. I never have and never will.

@ Candy: You know, your response really resonated with me as not so long ago I would have answered with a very similar message.

The thing is, my eyes were blinded because I had been brainwashed. Some would say that is my own fault, I beg to differ since I AM actually very switched on … and yet, I still got scammed something major.

Maybe the honest person I am wanted desperately to belief that I was with the right company. Maybe I really was just that dumb to fall for all the rosy promises of it will work this month by following EVERYTHING I was thought to do and pay for.

I guess I have learned to see beyond all the crap that is going on in most MLM, only did I learn this far to late for my own pockets.

@ Tara: Thank you, thank you and thank you again. There is hope as you show clearly and I couldn’t agree with you more when you say you don’t ever want to pester people on the phone.

The major trouble with most MLM target="_blank" rel="nofollow" href="http://gobala.linktrackr.com/attractionmarketing-mlmrkeywords">MLM is (besides many being shoddy) that their marketing practices REALLY suck! They are outdated and were designed for the 80s and 90s before the Internet came to steal the show.

The sad part is that they still don’t learn from all the failures (ah, hold that thought, my mistake) Actually they know damn too well that this is exactly what makes people FAIL and makes them MILLIONS and that is WHY they keep those practices up, which makes them (insert your favourite …..word here).
